About the Role Airbnb is expanding its Infrastructure Performance team to keep speed, reliability, and efficiency as compute scales. As the Principal Software Engineer, Performance, you will own and shape the strategy for performance across the full stack. This is the most senior performance engineering role at Airbnb; you won't be handed a roadmap—you'll build one. What You'll Do
- Own performance across the full stack, including CPU and GPU fleet utilization, backend service efficiency, end-to-end request latency, storage, and ML infrastructure.
- Define and drive the performance roadmap, setting ambitious, measurable goals.
- Identify bottlenecks, design scalable improvements, and measure impact across systems and teams.
- Enforce performance as a first-class property across the software lifecycle—from design to deployment and monitoring. What We're Looking For
